  • casita – little house
  • MG - Nickname of my spouse, the Mexigringo. Mexi from being born and raised in Yucatan, Gringo from living many, many years in the states, most of them with yours truly. A case of confused identity; in the states, he’s usually taken for a Mexican (except in the Four Corners area where he can pass for a Navajo), but here in Mexico, he is invariably assumed to be a gringo. Sometimes he acts more like a MEXIgringo, and others a MexiGRINGO, which makes life interesting for me.
  • milpa – cornfield, agricultural plot
  • tienditaa small store usually selling sodas, groceries, and various household items. Ubiquitous in Mexico and a major convenience of living here.
